First of all: coffee doesn't really go "bad" - coffee can only lose its taste. On our packaging we indicate a best before date of 12 months, but this does not mean that the coffee is spoiled after this date.
Our recommendation, so that you can enjoy the full taste of your coffee:
Consume your coffee
- within 4 months after delivery.
- after opening, if you have ordered whole beans, within 4 - 8 weeks
- after opening, if it is already pre-ground, within 4 weeks
Our coffees are gently drum-roasted fresh every week and shipped within 1 to 4 weeks after roasting. Did you know that coffee roasts should rest for 7 - 10 days after roasting and espresso roasts even 10 - 14 days? The aromas of the coffee need time to fully develop after roasting.
After approx. 3 months in the sealed package, the coffee will gradually lose its aroma. We recommend that you always buy coffee as whole beans and grind them just before preparation.
During storage, make sure that the coffee is protected from its greatest enemies: oxygen, moisture, light and foreign aromas. The aroma valve on the back of the coffee packaging ensures that the gases that flow out of the coffee after roasting escape from the packaging without oxygen getting to the beans. We therefore advise against decanting our coffees into another container.
